WWF India initiated the 'Adopt a Tree' campaign in 2005 to encourage individuals and organisations to plant and care for native species. Since then, we and our partners have grown and managed thousands of trees.
Each one of us can adopt a tree for life and help make our planet a greener place. You can adopt a tree anytime during the year.
The cost of adopting of one tree is INR 200. You can adopt any number of trees.
Starting this monsoon, WWF India will plant trees in selected sites with the help of our on-ground partners. These sites will be chosen based on the final number of trees. Those that miss the current season will be planted in the next plantation cycle.
Yes, you will receive a donation receipt upon completion of a transaction. An 80G certificate is issued.
Yes, you will receive plantation pictures in the reports we send out after planting saplings. We also send out regular updates from plantation sites.
The trees are planted on community-owned lands; no individual has any ownership right on them.
We work with on-ground partners and communities for tree plantation at selected sites. All plants are housed in nurseries near plantation sites until they reach the sapling stage. As such, there is regular involvement, livelihood provision and local engagement.
Of course! Like every year, you can plant a sapling in your backyard or on public land to be a part of our Adopt A Tree campaign. Do tag @wwfindia on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter with the #AdoptATree hashtag. We’d love to see your contribution to the environment!
Of course. A tree is a gift for life that you can dedicate to friends, family and acquaintances.
Multiple native species of trees will be planted on the final chosen site. The choice to plant the tree is not with the contributor. Only species native to the region‒a healthy mix of fruit and non-fruit bearing plants‒ are planted.
