BALANCING THE HUMAN-WILDLIFE INTERFACE IN THE MOUNTAINS
Human-wildlife conflict is an urgent and pressing matter. In the high mountain ranges, conflict with snow leopards and wolves are common as they attack livestock for food. For mountain communities, this is a growing challenge that affects agriculture and pastoralism, further impacting livelihood options. WWF India has designed smart predator-proof corrals to protect these livestock/livelihood of communities, and reduce retaliatory killings of wild animals. These specially developed predator-proof corrals keep livestock safe from predators and let people have a good sleep without worrying about their livestock.
