World Environment Day - WWF India

Only One Earth

Join us on 5th June 2023 as we celebrate World Environment Day, the biggest international day for the environment. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), this global event has been raising environmental awareness since 1973.

This year, Côte d'Ivoire, in partnership with the Netherlands, takes the helm as the host of World Environment Day 2023. With the theme "Solutions to plastic pollution," the campaign aims to tackle one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time.

Plastic pollution affects every corner of our planet, and it's up to us to take action. The steps we take, from individual choices to collective efforts, significantly impact our environment. Governments and businesses are responding to our actions, recognising the urgency to address plastic pollution.

Join millions worldwide as we unite to #BeatPlasticPollution on World Environment Day 2023.

Let’s inspire change and create a sustainable future for our planet. Because we have Only One Earth, and it's our responsibility to protect it.

Importance of protecting our Earth

Nature is the crucible in which life thrives. To protect and build a safer, resilient and sustainable Earth, we must restore ecosystems. Healthy ecosystems mean a healthy planet and healthy people.

Healthy Earth can strengthen people's livelihoods, curb climate change, and stop the collapse of biodiversity. These in turn, will help regulate the spread of pandemics diseases and reduce the risk of natural disasters.

In short, restoring and protecting the Earth can ensure good health and strengthen people's livelihood depending on various ecosystems.

We only have One Earth. Let us live sustainably in harmony with nature.
